Under the cross

9 Apr

On Friday we ran a contemplative time, which Jonathan blogged about. During this time I had a picture of sitting by Christ on the cross, and I wrote down the thoughts which came into my mind at the time. I decided that I would like to share them here today.

This painting has been created by Tracy Apps I really like her art work.
I sit under your cross
You’re trying to talk to me, yet struggling to breathe.
Your body is broken and bleeding,
it seems so unfair.
How could they do this to you,
the Messiah they have been waiting for?
I guess you weren’t what they expected,
so they didn’t understand.
As I look at you,
you’re in so much pain.
I don’t understand – how, why could they treat you so?
As I look a drop of your blood falls on me
and I feel so close to you.
Your blood has washed me free from sins and baggage
and brought mer back to God
– my father, the Almighty, Jehovah Jirah once more.

Your prayer really touched me…often when I pray…I have a smiliar image in my head of Jesus on the cross and his blood washing onto me as I pray at his feet…

    I love the painting…beautiful!
