World AIDS Day

1 Dec

Today is World AIDS Day. AIDS has killed more than 25 million people, with an estimated 33.2 million people living with HIV, including 2.5 million children, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history.  AIDS is destroying many developing nations, particularly within Africa.  It is a tragedy that many of these people do not have access to the antiretroviral treatment which is used in the West. During 2007 there will be an estimated 2.5 million people infected with HIV.  Half of those infected do so before they are 25 and they are killed by AIDS before they are 35.  Pray for those who are suffering today, and for all of those children who have lost their childhood because they have either become infected, or they have become orphaned and now have to run the family home, earn money, and just try to survive.
